A french rendez-vous / Un rendez-vous francais.

I  always look forward to Wednesday mornings.....it's a  'meet up'  of fellow francophones at a local cafe near the beach, just for an hour or two.

Sun's up at our place ..looking like a perfect morning for a coffee and french chat!

So, I grab my keys. ........

Yes, its an Eiffel Tower..who would have thought :)

and head to the Pacific ocean..or nearly. Just in time for coffee.  We normally have the lovely french Adeline bring us our orders, which is a true bonus!

Woops!! A little spillage there! But tastes good :)

Sometimes there are 5 or 6 of us, and sometimes there may only be two, but there is always french conversation to be had.......

Meet Jan (left) and daughter Julia. Lots to learn from these two. Jan has studied the language since school (with a  little break in there somewhere) and also spent 2 months at a language school in France in 2006 with her hubby! Quelle aventure!!!  It seems as if they have turned into  french boaties,  having  had several wonderful holidays, winding their way through  the rivers of France.  As for Julia, well she was fortunate enough  to have spent a year in France as an exchange student, and travels there quite regularly, which is probably why her french is so so good!

Another  'wonder' of our group is the talented Anne. A great source of information on ..lots of things!! She puts it down to her past work in research  :)  Anne's french is great, and is a talented artist as well! ..Yes.. she enjoys the language..but she is absolutely passionate about...Tasmanian Devils!
Just look at Anne's work below...she is so clever!!

and I just love the colors in this.....

I'm thinking that the above painting is an interpretation of Burleigh beach  below....

The Pacific Ocean  is simply  sparkling this morning :)

But as all good things must come to an end,  its time to go home, switch back into the Australian way....but not for long...it's Alliance Francaise day tomorrow!

If you learn or speak french,  what extra steps do you take to immerse yourself in the language?  Do you watch the french news on TV, read french books, take in a french film?

Or do you go for broke, and just pack your bags?????

ppssst..........take out the lavender.....you will have more room!

Have a fabulous frenchy week!

A bientôt,  Gigi
